Yorkie Puppy Care
You must be prepared for your new Yorkie puppy when he
arrives. To ensure his safety, health, and happiness you
should spend some time preparing before his arrival.
- Puppy proof the home
- Basic precautions that should taken before bringing a
puppy into the home.
-
Some items commonly found
around homes that can be dangerous to your puppy include:
household cleaners (especially pine oil), antifreeze,
slug bait, pesticides, fertilizers, mouse and rat poisons,
perfumes, colognes, aftershaves, medications, vitamins,
tobacco products, and chocolate.
-
Some plants are poisonous and may be harmful to your puppy
if he chews on them. These include the houseplants ivy,
oleander and poinsettia and the garden plants holly,
hydrangea, and azalea; the bulbs of daffodils & tulips are
poisonous.
- Lastly, there
are the chewing hazards. Electric cords, Chicken and
Turkey bones.
- Find a Veterinarian
- Search for a Veterinarian in your area.
- A good Veterinarian that you can communicate with
well is essential to keeping healthy dogs.
- Purchase crate, toys,
chews and other items
- We use a crate or clear plastic box for our puppies
to use as their bed and area of confinement.
- Purchase some toys for the dog to play with and
avoid letting them have "old socks" since they will
struggle to tell the difference later in life.
- Purchase some types of chews that will be useful
once they begin cutting permanent teeth.
